Due to the ongoing CUPE strike, this event has been postponed until the new year. A new event page will be created with more details.
Every year on December 6, the men’s walk takes place at McMaster University for staff, faculty, and students as part of a larger set of programming for the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. This day falls on the anniversary of the Montreal Massacre and within the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. It is an opportunity for men on campus to reflect on our unique role in working to end gender-based violence.
We invite men to join us on a tour around campus to five memorial sites. At each stop along the walk, one man takes a rose, places it at the memorial site, and shares a few words. It is a time for us as men to reflect on allyship, on the women and trans folks we have learned from in this work, and why we have come to the walk. Each stop is ended with a moment of silence.
