Responding supportively when someone discloses an experience of sexual violence to us can greatly impact a survivor’s well-being. Our most popular offering, this training will familiarize participants with the Recognize, Respond, Refer model to giving support, cover key points of McMaster’s Sexual Violence Policy, and introduce campus and community resources available to the McMaster community.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
Understand the gendered, systemic, and intersectional realities of sexual violence
Distinguish between sexual violence myths and realities
Support those disclosing sexual violence through the Recognize, Respond, Refer model
Distinguish between disclosing and reporting
Identify relevant resources available on campus and in the community
Multiple dates/times are being offered, with a maximum number of 35 spots set aside for each session.
