What does it mean to build positive learning environments and work spaces for diverse gender identities and expressions? In this session, participants will learn about the ways transphobia and cisnormativity manifest in our classrooms and larger society, practices to build more equitable learning spaces, and campus and community resources for support and education.
By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:
Define and give examples of transphobia and cisnormativity
Understand the experiences of transgender and nonbinary students
Implement best practices on pronoun usage and gender-neutral language
Identify key resources on campus and in the community to support transgender and nonbinary students’ socio-emotional, administrative, health, and legal needs
