Protocol for Residence Life Team

  1. Residence Life Area Coordinators, Community Advisors, and Residence Orientation Reps are expected to understand the Limits to Confidentiality.
  2. When a Community Advisor or a Residence Orientation Reps receive a Disclosure from a resident that relates to Sexual Violence, they must:
    1. Follow the Recognize, Respond, Refer guidelines for support outlined in the Sexual Violence Protocol;
    2. Advise the resident of their obligation to inform their supervisor; and
    3. Immediately notify the supervising Residence Life Area Coordinator (RLAC), or notify the on-call RLAC if after business hours
  3. When a Residence Life Area Coordinator receives or is notified of a Disclosure of Sexual Violence made by a student resident, they must:
    1. Depending on the nature of the Disclosure, reach out to the resident and offer to meet at an appropriate time and location of their choice, should they choose to meet;
    2. Follow the Recognize, Respond, Refer guidelines for support outlined in the Sexual Violence Protocol;
    3. Notify the Manager of Residence Life immediately; and
    4. Contact the Consultant on Sexual Violence Prevention and Response to assess safety, whether the limits to confidentiality apply, and appropriate next steps for ongoing support.
