Join us for Drag Story Time for Grown-Ups, starring Unita Assk, McMaster University’s consent-educating drag queen. This event is part of Freedom to Read Week, an annual event that encourages Canadians to think about and reaffirm their commitment to intellectual freedom, which is guaranteed under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Unita will be reading excerpts from banned or challenged adult fiction and non-fiction books. There will also be prizes!
Check out Mills’ book display for Freedom to Read Week, highlighting banned and challenged books based on gender and social justice issues in Mills Memorial Library lobby, Thode Library second floor, and online with our Omni Featured Collections.
No registration is required.
Location: Mills Memorial Library, 1st floor.
This event is proudly presented by McMaster University Library and the Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office.
Transformative Stories: Year of Gender and Justice is presented by McMaster University Library in collaboration with campus and community partners and will feature a lineup of free, public programming from fall 2023 through summer 2024. The series is part of McMaster University Library’s biannual “Year of” celebrations, which are aimed at highlighting the library’s unique collections, resources, and expertise and emphasizing its vital role in supporting the research, teaching, and learning mission of the university.
